While Apple Delays at the Bargaining Table, CWA-represented Workers in Oklahoma City Vote to Strike

Last weekend, Apple Retail Union-CWA workers at the Penn Square Apple Store in Oklahoma City, Okla., overwhelmingly voted to authorize a strike following a two-month contract negotiation delay from Apple. This news comes shortly after Apple retail workers in Towson, Md., ratified the first collective bargaining contract in late July.

“We are approaching two years since my coworkers and I formed a union, and since then we have been met with union-busting and foot-dragging from Apple. Enough is enough. We are inspired by the example set last month by our colleagues at the Towson, Maryland, store, who secured the first collective contract in Apple Store history. We know Apple is capable of providing us with the pay and benefits we deserve, and we call on the company to stop stalling and bargain with us in good faith,” said Darren Griffis, Apple Store Business Expert and member of Apple Retail Union-CWA.

Even as Apple has engaged in a pattern of retaliatory behavior against the union drive, workers are hopeful that the momentum will encourage the company to bargain in good faith; they are not backing down.

UAW Files ULP Against Trump and Elon Following Twitter/X Interview

The United Auto Workers (UAW) have filed an unfair labor practice charge with the NLRB against both Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump, after a two-hour Twitter/X conversation where Trump complimented Musk’s anti-union tactics at Tesla. The UAW argues that the exchange illegally encourages intimidation tactics.

“Greedy bosses aren’t just laughing at workers in smoke-filled backrooms anymore. They’re broadcasting it for the world to hear. It’s no surprise coming from Trump and Elon Musk—two notorious union-busters who boast a combined record of crossing picket lines, underpaying workers, flouting health and safety laws, and retaliating against workers for demanding the rights and fair pay we deserve, with Musk even suing the National Labor Relations Board rather than being held accountable for charges he illegally fired workers,” said AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler in response to the exchange.
